Daily Life

Guilty – We are cat-sitting our ‘grandcat’ Dick for a couple of months. This was, I suspect, Dick’s way of letting me know it was well past food time.

Titanium backpacking wood stove modifications – My titanium wood stove needs a bit more air. This afternoon I added some more air holes.

Trees, snow, and sky – We woke Saturday morning to a light dusting of snow which had mostly melted by the evening.

Kansas City Skyline. Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. When I took this picture at 6:40 a.m. I’d already been working for an hour and a half.

Overdoing things mowing the front yard – Today the temperatures eased off slightly for the first time in many weeks. It was just low enough for me to venture out to tend to the front yard for a few hours.

Ginger’s Glasses – I find them everywhere. I scoop them up from their hiding places and put them somewhere they can be found. She must have 10-20 pairs.

I received a request for a profile pic for my voluntary work, and I don’t like the goofy picture I’m using for my profile at work, so I got out the tripod, set up the camera, and asked Ginger to take some pictures and got both fixed.

Kitchen Table Still Life – I was eating dinner when I noticed the light on these pots that Ginger threw at a pottery class she’s been taking. One-minute read, +1

Milwaukee Fastback 48-22-1990 – I’ve finally got around to replacing the pocket knife I gave to Katie. One-minute read, +1

Sunday cleaning & oiling. Sig Sauer P938 – I’ve been trying to get my hands on a P938 for a long time (over a year). Everywhere I’ve checked they have been out of stock. This is the 9mm version of Katie’s 380 Caliber Sig Sauer P238 handgun. One-minute read, +1

Last set of shelves – Fitting them was not easy… We finally got around to fitting the last set of shelves bringing an end to all the major work on the Utility Room Project for the moment.

March Hibiscus – we moved our hibiscus plants inside for the winter and they have rewarded us by flowering every now and then.

Bedroom Plants – Same old story, I liked the light.

Utility room shelving unit finally fitted in place – It’s taken a long time to get this shelving unit made and finished, mainly because of problems with the paint. I’m glad it is now installed. However, there’s still more to do in this room before it is finished.

Problems – Three coats of paint, rubbing down between coats, around 3-4 hours each. And the color of the paint doesn’t match the doors we bought.

Painting – Time to paint the utility room shelving.

It is going to be a long day today. I left at nine and plan to be at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church by midday. Then we have four hours to get everything ready for the four pm Celebration of Absalom Jones service. After that, break everything down and drive three hours home.

Pantry shelves ready for finishing. With a lot of snow forecast, I needed to get the shelves out of the garage to make room for the car. +2

Well, that didn’t go as planned… As usual, things took a lot longer to do than I anticipated, and I made two annoying mistakes. Two-minute read.

My task for tomorrow … Is to turn this pile of wood into a ‘pantry’ and shelving unit.
