My Favorite Pictures

This is an attempt to pare down the number of my favorite photographs to something more viewable. These are the favorites of my favorites. Don’t ask me what makes a picture an all-time favorite. It might be a really good picture, or it might hold a special memory for me, or who knows what. These are the pictures that mean the most to me.

Shell (Colour) – Shell service station, Goldsmith Avenue, Portsmouth.

KFC at the Pompey Centre, Portsmouth

A blurred yellow taxi crosses a junction under 'the loop' on State Street, Chicago

State Street, Chicago. One of my all-time favorite pictures.

Gary Allman – Self Portrait – I was playing with my webcam, and I rather liked the results…

Blue Sky reflected in the windows of a blue building framed by a blue sky

Blue – I spotted this picture while waiting for a train. I (correctly) judged I’d have just enough time to run over and get the picture before the train arrived.

A panoramic view of a golden sunset showing a silhouette of South Parade Pier, the beach, sea and Isle of Wight. Southsea, UK

Panoramic Sunset – South Parade, Southsea UK – A spectacular sunset and South Parade Pier, Southsea. This is five handheld photographs stitched together.

Apart…(365:270) – for now. A collaborative picture with Ginger.

Ironed Out – Original caption: “Best part of three weeks away and I’m overrun by ironing.” One-minute read

Modesty (365:108) – My ‘artistic’ notion was to challenge the idea of modesty. Can a naked person be modest? One-minute read, +3

Break (365: 90) – Work on renovating the hall has begun. Today we took down the ceilings on the middle and ground landings and my work room. we also took out the wall between the landing and my work room.

Self Portrait of Gary Allman - March 2007

Thursdays (365: 82) – I recently wrote that I had yet to capture the ‘essence’ of myself. This, I think might be it.

Waking Up (365: 29) – In the summer I sleep in the garden. In October I vowed to spend one night a month sleeping out and last night was February’s turn.

Smoke, No Mirrors – Reprise – One of the early photographs I took when I bought my first digital camera.
