Welcome to Breakfast in America

I’m a Brit who unexpectedly emigrated to the USA in 2008, and this is my photo journal.

It’s an eclectic mix of things; there’s no guiding theme or topic. It is whatever catches my attention, what I’ve been thinking, doing, or piques my interest. Currently that’s mainly backpacking and clearing some of the backlog on my ‘honey-do’ list.

Memories

A dozen pictures, picked at random from my favorite memories. You can see my portfolio here.

Labor Day Weekend With The Parents

Labor Day Weekend With The Parents – Saturday, contrary to expectations of a sleep-in, I was up at 6:30 am to accompany Jim to my first Midwest auction. One-minute read, 3 pictures

More fun in the workshop (365:095)

More fun in the workshop (365:095) – Today we are building a “batch-loaded, inverted downdraft gasifier” wood stove out of old tin cans. 2 4

In the woods

In the woods – It is a nothing picture. You need to be there, listening to the birds, hearing and feeling the breeze, smelling the woodsy smells, and enjoying the warm sunshine on your skin.

Distant Hills

Distant Hills – The view to the northeast from the Pilot (Tower) Trail, near Lower Pilot Knob.

Bath time

Bath time — I’m looking pleased with myself. That’s probably because I have warmed up after my wilderness bath.

Passage

Passage — Passage of time, passage to anywhere, passage through life. At some point the fishing boat will probably become an abandoned hulk on the shore.

Bedroom plants

Bedroom Plants – Same old story, I liked the light.

On The Devil’s Den East (Upper Pilot) Trail

On The Devil’s Den East/Glades (Upper Pilot) Trail – The fall light is wonderful. However, I need a blaze orange cap or a blaze orange hatband, because the low angle of the light makes it impossible to see where I’m going at times. Plus, a bonus stereo image version! 2

Waiting and Writing (365:161)

Waiting and Writing. Sitting waiting in the car is one of the few places and times I get a chance to stop and think. 2
